2005 range rover sport 2.7td service light

I recently did a service on my friends range rover but cannot reset the service light found out from auto data but it wont reset any ideas how to do it or does it need plugging in at dealers-thanks in advance for any ideas

If you are in position to establish the type of service from the service log book, I may be in a position to pass the reset procedure rather than give you all three resets here which are.
a) distance based inspection
b) time based inpection/ with distance based service
c) time based inpesction/without distance based servive

Thanks to you both,algags the info you sent me is very similar to what i got off auto-data but ile try it again.nkakamasembe the car has gone way over the service time when i press the button it comes up -9000mls but hes had the car aprox 1800months 7 i think they serviced it b4 he had it so im assuming it may be time or distance but if you can help any further then that would be much appreciated!!
