noticed a slight sludgy cream on the oil filler cap.. only bought last week 55 plate 40,000 on clock not over heating goes like stink still concerned maybe a head gasket prob any one any answers cherrs

Warm it up and take it for a good thrash about.
Still concerned? .. Change oil and filter when really hot.
Check thermostat is allowing engine to get up to normal temp ok.

cheers done that today up the m74 90 no probs iol changed b4 i got the car main dealer no over heat temp fine heater fine slite white smoke till shes warmed up

What is your Warranty? check it just in case.
I had this problem on my old Astra and I was afraid about Head gasket, etc. It turned out to be a "problem" in the sense that I had to wipe out the filler cap every week in cold weather but it wasn't serious at all.Hope the same for you.
