Have just been involved in a minor accicident the total responsibility of the other driver.
My car has done 180000 miles and I expect to do another 100000 miles in it.
An estimate of the cost of repairs is £600 together with the cost of hiring a car while repairs are being done.
The value of my car is only £500 as a right off and I am told by my brokers that will be the likely offer. Can anybody say in that instance what would happen to the car. Also as I want to keep the car and get it repaired to carry on. What tactics should I adopt.

Ask them how much it will cost to buy the car back. When my car was written off (all panel damage) I was offered 2k. I kept the car and they paid out 1.6k.
depends on the co but many will let you keep the car and give you a lesser payout as long as it's a cat c or d write off. Some numpty knocked my bike over a few years ago and I was offered 2 prices, one keeping the bike and one not. Just ask them.
