I have never taken my bike on a ferry before. How are they secured (my bike doesn't have a centre stand)? If they're tied down, does the ferry company supply the ties?

not sure where you are planning on going by ferry, but i can tell you that for short crossings ie to isle of wight you have to stay with bike or hope that centre stand will keep in upright. In bad weather the staff will sometimes give you a block to put behind wheel but you really do need to stay with bike in those conditions

Thanks ChuckFickens - perfect!
usually they are strapped to tie points ont the side partition walls. The ferry supplied the ties on the ones I have been on but you will need something squashy to put between the bike and the tie point.
