Enforcement (in all speed limits) normally begins at (Limit + 10% + 2mph). So 34mph in a 30mph limit is usually tolerated whilst 35mph isn’t. A course is not “harsh”. As I understand it, drivers are only able to attend a speed awareness course once every three years. If that is so, then the next offence in that timeframe is likely to cost more esp if your insurance company increases your premiums. The £20 you think you might have saved may well be eaten up quite quickly. If you have cruise control - time to use it, methinks?

you can still knock someone up in the air at that speed, sorry but motorists who take these chances don't get my sympathy at all.

I believe that ACPO guidelines recommend a tolerance level of the speed limit ×10% +2 mph" (e.g., a maximum tolerance in a 30 mph (50 km/h) zone of 30 + (30 × 10% = 3) + 2 = 35 mph).

Speed kills, but so do police cuts. Best bet is to fine people as much as they can.

Flonska you're right there is a buffering zone. It is 10% of the speed limit at the time. IE, 30 zone the buffer would go to 33.
