The cheapest is not necessarily the best.

Where do you want to use the gloss paint? Is it just on wooden supports like doors, skirting boards, window frames etc? I hope you aren't planning to paint walls with gloss paint.

Cheap white  gloss paint needs more coats and has a tendency to go yellow.

I get on okay with Wickes trade gloss

I guess, its just indoor skirting anf doors etc

Skirting, architrave and doors? How many doors?

Question Author

7 doors

2.5 litres of gloss would do a lot of skirting, doors etc.

Are you planning to paint the walls and ceilings? They would normally require a big pot (e.g. 2.5 litres). Difficult to advise without knowing the size of the flat and the areas to be covered. Gloss on wood would probably need undercoat on the wood first.

At least 5 litres and don't buy the cheapest brushes, they shed

Somebody doing it for me but i was going to buy in advance

The decoraator should be able to advise you how much paint is needed. If s/he is just a friend then you would need to measure how many square metres of woodwork and/or walls/ceilings are involved and then go by the coverage given on the paint can.
