congestion charge penalty

I have sold a car, and now received FIVE fines from TFL. I have sent a copy of the log book that we both signed, but I assume he never sent it off to the dvla. Has anyone else had this happen to them and what was the outcome? Cheers

you only have yourself to blame, as it should be YOU,that is responsible for making sure the v5 is posted to the dvla,not the buyer. the only course you have left is to send a copy of the v5 and receipt for selling the car, to TFL and hope they believe you,but remember in future YOU keep the v5 and post it off.it saves all the hassle that you now have.

Well thank YOU for YOUR curt answer! There was a bit more to the story actually, but dont YOU worry about it. The DVLA have been sympathetic and helpful and are going to send confirmation of my having sold the car, and he has been reported for driving without insurance. So no hassle and no fine for me. !

Forgot to mention, when I said log book, I meant the registration document, and they did also get a copy of the receipt. I'm not completely without ANY brain cells. LP

I did once get a lot of parking fine notifications for a car that I'd sold: sometimes it's just that DVLA are a bit slow sorting the paperwork, although they have speeded up ovf late, but TFL can be a bit rottweillerish and it may help if you get a solicitor to knock you up a leter of dissociation, similar to what you get them to do if you share an address with someone with a bad credit rating: it'l cost a few quid but hopefully just get TFL off your back.

Thanks Mr rusty, that sounds like a good idea, might pop down the CAB, or local law centre, they have access to solicitors.

Norman may have been a bit curt, as usual, but he is one hundred per cent right. Have a look at the registration certificate for what you should do when you sell a car.

Following the instructions is probably easier than getting a photocopy of the certificate with both your signatures on.
