Motoring errors

I have a sign in the rear window of my car which has LED messages which if I happen to make a driving error (which we all do at times) will light up and say `Sorry` to the driver behind. And I look in the rear mirror and the following driver waves O.K which diffuses any bad tempers. It also has a `Help`sign should help be required. Very useful don`t you think?

useful? depends how bad your driving is and often you feel the need to apologise or call for help.

Also one for the front so you can apologise to the driver in front you just crashed into while talking to the one behind.

If you flash up HELP, what do you expect them to do?

In modern days of mobiles, surely it is easier to call someone.

agree with panic here, what do you think "help" would do?
just the word help is the tip of the iceberg( helping in what way?) , and what would you require another drivers help with whilst driving?

I`ll try and answer each one of your sarcastic replys. Firstly I belong to the IAM. How many of you do?Secondly, How many of you have never made an error and not apologised, Thirdly,there is only one button to press to say sorry and I KNOW PRECISELY WHERE IT IS. and finally the help button is in case of an breakdown or to help other people in trouble. But I hope not your type. And I`ve been driving all types of vehicles since I was 17 and I am now 73 and never had a shunt up the rear by or to anyone, or accident. 27 of those years bus and HGV vehicles, OK

I too drive articulated lorries and buses.

I can see the reasoning behind the sorry function, but I have my worries.

Every day I see some appalling driving standards of people pushing their way without indicating, or indicating as the force their way.
I fear some of these idiots would simply carry on doing this then flashing up SORRY as if it excuses it in some way.

I know what you mean `Panic`, but please don`t put me in that categorie,I take great pride in my driving and have taught many people in the pass whom have gone on to pass their test 1st time including my wife.... and that was some accomplishment believe me. I also have Red, Green,and Blue I.A.M passes. Pardon my boasting but I think everyone should go further than just knowing how to make a vehicle go forward and reverse. I`m sure you will agree.

My car driving improved when I went back into training for PCV and HGV. It is not nice having your driving criticised after years of doing it, but very good for you.

Well, I`m pleased this topic has gained a lot of interest and hope in doing so more of you AB followers will take the I>A>M driving test and iron out your errors behind the wheel-----or, don`t you think you need to?H`mm

A lot of the worst drivers tend to be those that go round thinking that theyre great drivers. I'd be more worried about getting into a car with someone who was boasting about his driving skills and driving courses he's been on than someone who just takes a bit more care on the road and wasn't over confident.

I don't think flashing messages at other road users is really going to endear you to many people. How would you feel if you were following someone who kept flashing up the word 'to$$er' at you? Not a road we really want to go down is it?

At one time ( Believe it or not ). In the days when Hand signals were compulsory, It was suggested that sticking your hand out of the window and showing three splayed fingers, would indicate the letter E. " For Excuse me ".
The idea was dropped when it was pointed out that this gesture was liable to be mistaken for a Two fingered salute.
Another bright idea was to press your hand onto the windscreen to show you were going straight across.

The majority opinion on here is that Members of IAM are nothing more than a load of conceited T W A T S who think that paying to display a badge gives them some sort of credence!
