My friend is thinking of buying a Motorhome if the vehicle is 6 months old should it have an MOT.

No, the test will be due at either one year or three years, depending on the type of motorhome.

IT is 3,500 GVW and it is a 2009 model wth 6 months MOT left. It seemed dodgy to me

Your friend should be very wary, if they start suggesting meeting somewhere unusual with the money.
Hi, does your friend hold a HGV Licence? with the weight of this Motorhome he / she will need one to drive this.
as you state 3.500 GVW
What a load of tosh. Many many people can drive up to 7.5 gvw on an ordinary driving licence. It depends when you passed your driving test, before January 1997 and you're fine.
If you passed after, you just need to take a test in the next stage, not a HVG test.
That's strange HC, I had been driving HGVs for the last 38+yrs & knowing vehicles over 3 tons was classed HGV, have I missed something here?
Hate to say it TWR, but you only need a C1 to drive 3.5T - 7.5T and most people have that (unless they passed after Jan '97).

I was one of the painters Mdoo.
Apparently it sank because of the poor paint job
