Warranty Expiry

Surprise surprise,
3 Days out of warranty (Vauxhall car) and a warning light appears on the dash!!!
Is this a common thing happening out there or am I just unlucky (or is there some clever programming in the car to enable garages to screw more money out of the motorist)??

if something does fail just out of warranty you still have grounds for repair or replacement under the Consumer Goods Act...
It is deemed that an item of value... should last for a fair period of time... SO eg.. a £500 TV should last for more than 12 months....
A £50 toaster should work for more than 12 months etc
If its a new car just outside warranty.. the law would state that a fair priced car should run without problems for longer than the stated warranty...

not the link I was looking for but interesting all the same... Not sure if it applies to cars but worth bookmarking in case of broken toasters and tvs or fridges etc!!!
