I have just inherrited a 1999 T Reg VW Polo 1.4 CL Automatic. I have a couple of questions to ask.

1, When the car is cold the car jerks when changing from 1st to second. It only does this once or twice and then runs perfectly. Does this indicate low oil in the gearbox? I looked in the Haynes Manual and it says that you would need to take it to a VW garage to have the oil changed in the gearbox as you need a special tool.

2, The car is quite noisy. What I mean is at 70 ish the road and wind noise is quite loud. There is no soundproofing under the bonnet. Is this normal for a Polo? I did get a garage to check the exhaust. They said that there is a tiny hole in the back box but didn't suggest changing it.

Thanks everyone for your advice.

Normal for a petrol regarding insulation/noise.
Auto boxes on Polo can be like that. I know a 1.6CL Auto .. that's fine though.
Replace fluid and try it. I think you can find an adapter at GSF parts.

I knew you would come through Al.

Is it quite straightforward chaning the oil as it is not described in the Haynes due to this adapter requirement?

Thanks again Al.
Hi ..
Work out what version/model it is and have a look here.
Fill through the dipstick tube I believe.
