it cut out the other day and now when i start it it makes a strange clicking noise, any ideas what could be wrong.................... battery, oil and petrol are all fine

Does it actually start and then makes a clicking noise or are you just getting a clicking noise when trying to start, if the second case then have the starter motor checked out.
