Dents and upholstery
Hiya, I have a middle-aged Fiat Punto, and have some dents in a door and bumper. I know its difficult to say, but does anyone have a very rough estimate of what prices im looking at to get, say three smallish dents fixed at a bodywork place? Also, anyone have any idea about the cost to reupholster the back rest of the back seats?
Would appreciate any help at all!
Thanks!

This was basically knocking the dents out, filling them, and matching/spraying the affected area. This was the 'cheap' way! If you have it done professionally, i.e. proper spray job and baked in the oven then you're probably talking up to 500.
Best thing for you to do is ask for a quote from several local garages. You might be able to play one off against the other, but it might backfire since most bodyshops are often busy.
Reupholster? Best to locate similar trim at a local scrapyard.
Well, thats a tricky one. Being a Punto, I think it would cheaper to leave it somewhere dodgy with the keys in and the engine running, and hope someone nicks it. Then you could claim off the insurance and be quids in.
But on the other hand, it being a Fiat, and Italian, it might need to have some TLC (trust me, I'm married to one), else it might just bite you in the arse. A sledge hammer is probably best for getting the small dents out, If you wack it hard where the 3 dents are, and kind of merge them all into one big dent then it won't look so bad. Regarding the interior, I think if you took all the seats out and put some nice pine tongue and grrove cladding around the doors, then finish it off with some nice red carpet tiles (I know where some are going spare), you could infact turn it into a nice Artist Studio and dump it in someone's garden, as a feature. Make sure the garden is landscaped and tidy first. Nothing worse than putting a Fiat in an untidy garden. Anyway, I hope my advise help you in your quest.
My only other questions is...what do you want??
