The driving ban only applies within Spain. Or, possibly, within any country with which Spain might have a reciprocal agreement. (As far as I know, there are no such countries. The UK has no reciprocal agreements in place, relating to driving bans, with any countries except Ireland).

Just trying to settle a Pub debate some of us .think if you lose your licence in a member state of europe that you are banned from driving in every european country, but it appears we are wrong.
An agreement has been signed between the UK and Republic of Ireland, mainly so drivers from Northern Ireland who drive while sozzled over the border in the Republic can be banned at home and vice-versa. But this will only pave the way for further pan-European co-operation. See more to come with speeding fines from cameras eventually following you home from the Autoroutes and Autostradas.
