As my daughter's battery died while she was away for 3 months she needs the code for the Radio/CD. We need to get the Serial Number off the back of it. We've managed to unscrew the front of it to pull it out but it seems very tight. Should it come out easily please? Thanks.

should be two holes on both sides of the housing next to the radio, you need to find four implements to fit in the holes and depress the spring clips holding the radio in place and preventing theft.
if it is OEM radio -GM / or a dealer should be able to give you radio serial no & code from the cars VIN number

TonyV, she went to the dealer but they told her that because they had bought out the previous dealer about two years ago they couldn't help her. She had the radio that came with the car changed to a radio/cd when she bought it, if that means anything, ie they are saying they don't have a record of the number.

We'll try to get the radio out today Thehousehusband. Thanks.
Chrissa1, if you manage to remove the radio from the dash... the forums are good at providing codes from serial number. All you need to do is give them a serial and model number from the radio's label, for the code. I've used Tech-Sat.info - got the code right away..

Here's link http://www.tech-sat.info/forum.php
look for the radio decoding section.

hope this helps
