Reasonable Price
I've been quoted £250 to have the cambelt and tensioner changed as well as the water pump on a 2003 VW Golf. All genuine VW parts. Does that sound a reasonable price for the work being done?

I got the bits myself which included the water pump (recommended change) for €252 and my mechanic (who I trust a million times more than the main dealer) did the work for me for €100 but he did nearly have to take the back bumper off to get to the timing belt, such is the way things are crammed in on these modern cars.
I had a bad experience of the main dealer when my car was in having warranty work done. I wouldn't let them loose now on my lawnmower. But my pal the mechanic in the smithy takes his time and does a proper job. I just never get a VAT receipt from him.
