Locked wheel nuts

My sister has bought a car, and the wheel nuts are locked in place, and she does not have the tool to undo them. She needs a new tyre, and therefore the wheel needs to come off. Any answers please?

Most tyre depots have the tool to remove the lock nuts but the lock nuts will be destroyed in the process so she will need new ones or replace them with normal nuts.

As she does not know if they are original the best I can suggest is that she goes to her local main car dealer and ask if they are original and can they supply a locking key, if the answer is no then it is a trip to her local tyre depot and ask if they are happy to break the locking nuts off and to replace with a new set, (which she will have to buy) This can be done. cost wise anything from £60 -£100

Or maybe the previous owner can be tracked down. They may still have the key nut.

She should check the the wheel brace mine is in a plastic sheath and the wheel nut is at the end of it. Definatly check in the boot as per Trimeresurus

You might be lucky and find the key somewhere within the vehicle – if not, check the drivers manual, there might be a card with the key number – so a replacement can be ordered. Failing that, contact these guys who will advise of a garage close to you that stocks the device. The garage will charge £20-£30 to remove the four locking wheel nuts.

yes had the same problem with chrysler voyager,
went on eBay entered model and tyre size, worked out there was a lad local to me,. hope you are as lucky

When I worked for a Ford dealer they had a master set of wheel nut keys, I would imagine other main dealers would probably do the same ( non-destructive)

Same thing happened with my daughters Corsa.we took it to a Vauxhall dealer who wanted £100 to do the job. Took it to a local garage who did it for £15.
