if a clutch is gone they say it makes a whining sound, would i be correct if i said that a clutch that is ok would still make a sound when you press the clutch pedal, just not as bad
Not sure what you are getting at here. If a clutch is said to be "gone", it usually implies that the friction plate is worn and it slips, thus preventing proper drive.
However, the release bearing can get noisy but not be "gone" or the pressure plate could fail, also preventing movement. Then it would be gone alright!
the reason why i ask this is because i had a clutch that was gone, and had the burning smell and the whining, i put in a second hand clutch, there is no burning, there is a very slight sound, this is for peace of mind really, and for a bit of knowledge on it
