Should all councils charge the occupier to park his car outside his house? With a shortgage of garage space nationally has the time come to keep our streets clear allowing access, keep the traffic moving and cut down on the number of accidents that parking causes. They do this quite successfuly in France.

Nothing new about that, rov - we don't have spaces in our gardens, our houses are on the road - for some years now we have paid the council £35 a year for the privilege of parking in the zone which includes our road. About 6 roads in each zone, you can only free-park in your own zone. No way of parking in other zones, the only alternative is to go to pay and display car parks.
