For some reason my front wash squirter has stopped - the rear one still seems to work. The nozzles aren't blocked and all the connections seem attached. Any suggestions?

There might be a blockage in the pipe. Look in the washer bottle. If it has black bits floating around in it when you disturb the water, it's usually the pipe or nozzle. The black bits are fungus where people use things such as washing up liquid instead of proper screen wash. The alcohol in the screenwash kills off any nasty bits and cleans the glass more efficiently as well. Otherwise, is there a separate washer pump for the rear, if so the front pump may be faulty.

Thanks Mortartube. It doesn't make a noise and the wiper doesn't move when I pull the lever - maybe is the pump

check the fuse, it may be on a different circuit from your rear wiper. I'm on my 8th Golf GTi, so I know something about these.
