drive shaft on mondeo

I need to change the near side drive shaft on my mondeo mk3 diesel. I have purchased the shaft from the internet, but cannot find any instructions on the net on how to change it. any ideas?

It's a very standard drive-shaft to replace.
You need to get off wheel .. slacken hub nut (large and high torque .. you will need a good socket ... crack a balljoint to enable the hub to swivel enough to pop out shaft from housing. I assume it is MTX75 transmission?

Hi Albags,

Its a 6 speed box, manual, I did glean a bit of info, is this job the one where the end of the inner shaft has a metal ring where you have to give the shaft a hefty pull to get it out of the housing, and will there be any oil pouring out?

Luck will be needed. I will be working on a sloping driveway, rain is forecast, Her indoors wanting to go shopping, me smothered in grease,no doubt the cat will sit next to me and ask to be fed and the next door neighbour will be giving me Her verbal assistance.should be a day to look forward to.

Hi Chaps,
Did the drive shaft, noise still there. Ha Ha, other drive shaft next week!!!
2 and a half hours. start to finish, big problems, when we tried to pull the shaft from the gear box, the coupling broke, and left the housing in the gear box. lots of jemmy bars etc and eventually it came out. new shaft took no time at all to install. Cost £60 on ebay ( new) my local factor wanted £130.
