It almost 100% unlikely to be anything to do with the oil but a good garage would surely have checked it over for you - as this is quite dangerous when pulling out as I found out but not quite to my cost.
I hope this of help to you, and by process of elimination - spark plugs/ht leads, fuel supply problem (faulty pump) or possibly an air intake problem. How old is your car?
