Peugeot 206Verve - Orange dashboard light.
17 Answers
I got in my car last night and there was a beep. I noticed that there was an orange light showing on the dashboard. Does this mean I need to get a garage to do 'engine diagnostics'?
Just to add, the car passed it's MOT three days ago after having the catalytic convertor replaced. Could the garage who did this have damaged the car? If so do you suggest I take it back to them? What should I say? Sorry to ask so many questions...

I have a Qashqai - an orange light comes on on the dash and a beep sounds as a warning about something , when this happens there is usually also a message on the dash telling me what the problem is, lately it's been a warning about a low outside temperature and a danger of ice.

This is for the CC, but the warning lights would be the same...

Before lining the pockets of your friendly local garage you might want to check all fluid levels and bulbs to see if there's a low level or a blown lamp.
Failing any of those a suitable sized piece of insulating tape, black preferred, placed over the offending illumination can work wonders for peace of mind.

ChuckFickens - Thanks for trying but the link doesn't work.
douglas9401 - Although there is a slight leak with the oil (adbisory notice on MOT) the levels when I start the car still show as ok. I'll check the radiator again, although it isn't long since I checked it.
Will let you know how it goes.
Thanks

Does it look like this ...

and normally come on with ignition .. and go out with engine start?
If it is the MIL ..
As you just had the cat replaced, it is likely that the ECU has picked up a change in emission limits .. or the ECU needs to be re-learned its parameters.
Go back to the garage that fitted the cat and complain that the work has put the engine check-light on. See if they can scan it or reset or learn the ECU.

Hi
MIL lights will extinguish if the 'fault' or 'event' does not appear for a certain number of driving 'cycles' (start-up .. drive ... switch off)
You may be lucky and the light stays off. If it stays off after starting for the next week or so, it looks like the new cat parameters are accepted and things will be ok. I assume the light was ON before the cat was replaced.
