My dad has to go on a speed awareness course in the new year rather than getting points on his licence. I have been told however that if he is caught speeding again within 2 years he will get those three points AND the thee points from his previous offence. Is this true? Many thanks in advance
I did a speed awareness course a few years ago and the rule then was that if you are caught speeding within the time that the endorsement for the original speeding offence would be applicable then the points/fine for the original offence would be applied and you would also receive points/fine for latest offence. Toureman's first reply is incorrect.
Strange, I did a speed awareness course in Lancashire a couple of years ago and they stressed that it was an alternative to accepting points and a fine. The only warning given was that if you reoffended within 3 years you couldn't have another course.
I really don't understand why some folks insist of providing counter opposite opinions below existing answers without checking out their 'hunches' first.
All counties have their own take on the situation. Here, you pay £50, got to a course, watch films, and get a keyring. The cop even said to us, GATSO doesnt work at night.
Counties have their own take on speed limit too, here it is the speed limit, plus 10% plus a mile. So in a 30 limit, you can get away with 34, and in a 60 limit, 67.
Have completed my speed awareness course this morning and I can assure you jkelly that the only stipulation as pauln90 says is that if you are caught speeding within the nrxt 3 years yo will not be offered another course. I didnt get a key ring though
