Are these really as unreliable as their reputation suggests? I was thinking about getting a 147 but dont want to be pushing it down the motorway on the weekends!!

Can only speak from experience, but having had a GTV for a couple of years, I have not had any problems. At the moment i am considering trading in the GTV for a 156 Sportwagon (I need the room). Try www.peachorlemon.com

They are Italian so they will never be as well built as a German box, but what you lose in build quality, you more than make up for in style: your average German box is as dull as ditch water.

Nice one Ducati, had a 156 as a hire car for a few days last year - not the sportwagon though - excellent engines and great design, hard to come to a conclusion after a couple of days though. Good luck with the trade in!!
ck1, the 147 is much better built than the Alfas of old, and has a good reliability record. The pick of the bunch is the 2.0lt twinspark, IMO.
I've had a 147 16V JTD for a year now, 35K on the clock, and only one minor problem from new (seal on filler nozzle - sorted under warranty).

I think that's the decision made for me then, any problems though and ill be expecting a tow!!
Did you get one in the end?!
