Are you saying that the log book was sent away by post before the 16 th but they changed it on the 17 th?
If the problem is ownership that would be criminal not civil.
Why would you be disqualified for driving a car that wasn't yours
who owned the car on the 16th & were you insured to drive with the owners permission?
has someone told the police you'd stolen it?
top_driver is answering these questions under Law heading as he posted twice

i was about to buy the car, so the only insurance coverage i would have is extended once the car isnt myne, the date of sale was written the 15th, log book place had it 17th, im trying to defend i didnt buy until after i was stopped
But you did buy it on the 15th.
what is the possible charge/offence?
If I read this situation correct on the 16th of the month you were behind the wheel of a vehicle which at that point intime did not in fact belong to you, however if you were in fact driving with the permission of the owner of that vehicle and had permission from your own insurers to drive other vehicles of that category then there is as far as I can see no offence committed. If the above is not the case then I'm afraid an offence as been committed and the police if they are feeling bloody minded can prosecute
The name on the log book is not proof of owernship, only proof of registered keeper which is not the same as legal owner.
The date you bought it is the effective date.

what im saying is the date written on date of sale is wrong, but even more confusing is that the garda/police has in front of him that i bought the car a year before i did, i would get a year ban, and if i did, can i link the wrongful year ban i got before to cancel out this one if i got it
what were you arrested/stopped/charged with??
Do you have proof of when you purchased the car?
Do you have evidence of when you bought the vehicle, a receipt, cheque stub etc?
Question Author
the charge is no insurance, no it was private sale
you don't have to own a car to be driving it but you do have to be insured, so did you have valid insurance on the day you were driving it?
Question Author
valid insurance as long as the car was not in my name
I might be mistaken but it sounds like you are trying to shirk your responsibility???

When did you buy the car?
Did you have valid insurance?

If I'm right I'd come clean because if you continue down the road of subterfuge and deception you seem to be creating here you'll be on a hiding to nothing.

Apologies if I've misunderstood what you've said.
I think the OP was caught driving the car the day after he bought it, using the 'any other car' option on the insurance for his other car.
This is invalid as soon as he owns the car, so was done for 'driving without insurance'.

The OP is claiming that although he paid for it on the 15th, title didn't change hands until his name was on the logbook, on the 17th. He was caught on the 16th.

It doesn't work like that. Title changed has as soon as you offered a price, it was accepted and you took possession of the car.
