Where I rival the great despots of history for pure evil. Anyway I was up before those lovely people on my local bench this week. Reffering of course to predictions and perhaps even opinions of what should be the penalty for the most heinous of crimes, who would like to guess what actual punishment their worships dolled out? I would offer a prize for the first correct answer but there appears to be no mechanism for it here so I will offer my sincere congratulations to the winner. A clue, costs where £50.

The problem is that you expect everone will be as good a driver as you - but there are people on the road who have just passed their test or aren't as good as they should be.
One day one may pull out on you and someone might get killed
You'll sit there and say - it was their fault
and you'll be right
But they'll still be dead
and if the impact was slower they'd be alive
That's why we have speed limits to lessen the results of serious accidents
Whether you're a good driver is not the point - you don't seem to understand this

where did I say I was safe because I speed keithlbw? Good leap of illogic no need to get hysterical. The speeding in question was on a dual carraigway far from pedestrians etc. The limit was 50 but really it is 70 the 50 is one of many revenue collection devices.

it's about right, the thing is that in court the severity can be guaged without a pure slavery to the figures. The fact is that the road is a 70mph road so 89 in that would normally get a fixed penalty. The Magistrates obviously had to consider that it was labelled a 50 but fortunately they had the intellegence to determine the true severity. For example going 40 past a school in a 20 is far far worse than what I did. The motoring evangelists need to consider the curcumstances rather than a blind black and white devotion to the figures.
