What has been the most troublesome car you have ever owned, & in what way?

Ah - happy days! I remember he bought one once and on the first drive I said 'what's that funny smell?' It was rust. When we got home I picked up the very damp carpet and there was a big hole in the floor - you could see the ground through it. A bit more and I would have been running to keep up. Ever afterwards when we were in the process of buying yet another piece of tat, I always picked up the carpets to look underneath. Just to check, of course.

Those CX's were certainly an interesting car to drive, I never owned one but I test drove a GTi Turbo one, that was fun, press the throttle and go wahay, breathe on the brake pedal and virtually go through the screen!

Yep, the French have a long history of making crap cars ( it's still on going imo ).

When my car was off the road, I borrowed my brother in law's Fiat Panda for a few days.

At the time it was only used for going to the stables, to 'do' the horse.

I literally used a spade to lift the mud out of the driver's footwell.

I think they just mucked out.

Some of it ended up on their boots.

Boy did the car pen and ink.

Everyone else just used the horse to ride into town for the ladies of leisure.

Top of the pile (of sh*te) - Allegro..new headlight bulb? Sorry, sealed unit...
Sealed unit doesn't quite fit? Sorry, you will have to buy some lugs.
Result - one headlight stands proudly out of its seating, it's inadequate beam pointing anywhere but the road ahead as the screw fixings loosened .

Foolishly took it on holiday to Germany where it broke down on the autobahn, on a Sunday in the middle of nowhere. Clutch problem cost me practically all my travellers cheques. At least I had my credit card! Er no.. 30 years ago it was only five-star hotels that accepted credit cards. I think I'm still paying for that holiday!

When I got back I went to part exchange it and the salesman took it for a drive around the block and whatever he offered me he said he would have to take an extra £50 off as he could hear the wheel bearings grating. I was told a few days later the mechanic had it up on the hoist and he spun the wheel and the whole thing came off and bounced out of the garage!

These square steering wheels didn't catch on either..
