I swapped my car at a dealership 2 days ago and they are calling me up saying my car is a write off and they want more money or to cancel the sale but all the paper work is signed can they do that?
So you bought a really cheap car, without checking its status, in order to get some money off a car you actually want. In answer to your question as to whether they can cancel the sale - answer is probably yes. Read the small print of whatever it was that you signed.
No i bought a car 3 months ago without checking its status and due to insure had to get rid of it so decided to swap it for a car in a lower catergory insurance group i didnt no the car was wrote off
The V5 Registration is not proof that the vehicle belongs to anyone, The receipt for the vehicle is proof of ownership, As you say you have then it is yours.
i actually worked for a dealership where a car had been traded that had been poorly repaired we actually went and seized the sold vehicle back cancelled the sale and gave him the pile of c**p trade in back.
what you have to remember is the sales guy who does the appraisal is not a qualified mechanic or bodywork/chassis expert..hes a 'salesman'.
They would of done an HPi check but just because its not on there it doesnt mean it hasnt been a write off, it may only come to light when the vehicle is looked at closer
