Panhard Rod
I have a kit car that uses MGB runing gear. It has developed an intermittent knock from beneath. On examination, I have found that it has something called a panhard rod going from the rear nearside chassis to the centre of the back axle. (where the crown wheel is). this rod is loose at the chassis end, hence the knocking. I know that MGB's didn't have this rod. Does anyone know what it does. It will be a real pig to get at so, if I can remove it, could I disgard it?
Thanks in advance

It improves rear axle stability. It's available as an aftermarket upgrade for MGBs.

I'd certainly want to keep it if at all possible, without it the back end will feel a lot looser...
It's definitely a standard part that comes with the chassis pack for that car and I can see that it would be a lot easier to remove it than it would be to replace the bushes in it.
To be on the safe side contact the makers of the kit and see what they say (they'd also be the people to talk to about getting replacement bushes)
