Just replaced rear disks on my Step sons 2000 car, these stupid bloody things, there is not enough insert depths, I could have easily rammed them up the designers @arse bloody things.

What a stupid bloody item these are Tony, you cannot get a direct crack on them, cannot get your torx tool in directly due to the access, the job had taken a couple of hours, if the were bolts, it could be done within an hour. Rant over lol

Easier manufacturing because the tool can hold the screw/bolt and they have more drive surface area than any other head which allows greater torque to be put on them with lower risk of camming out or stripping.

If you're having problems with them it's because you've not got the correct tools for the job, not a problem with the head.

They are bl00dy murder if they are a few years old. So easy to 'round off' the inside of the bolt and then you really are bu99ered! Bring back nuts and bolts!

we work on vehicles all day long, bodywork and mechanical , in the 12 years i have been here i have never heard one of our techs complain about them...
i certainly cant remember the last time anyone rounded one off, they are usually pretty bomb proof...

You can't really blame a head type for a previous person using the wrong tool and damaging it! The only time I've seen a problem with them is when people don't make sure the hole is clean and free of debris before trying to undo them so the tool doesn't go all the way in, but making sure the head is clean is an issue with every type of head.

Chuck, I understand where you're coming from, for obvious reasons someone with a bit of common would clean /spray the Torx bolt due to the area it is in before Trying to undo, but if someone previously has used the wrong Torx that's when it becomes dificult, I would have thought you would have known that!
