Peugeot 307 51 Plate

- Multifunction Display does not come on

- Airbag Light constantly on , when engine is running

Any ideas would be appreciated , as to how to try and resolve them - short of taking it to a garage

i would assume they are unconnected issues, airbag light can be a number of things that can only be diagnosed with code reader/diagnostic kit..Having said that its worth checking any electrical connections under the drivers seat (ie seat airbag/pretensioners) they can fail due to the continual movement/adjusment of the seat...
Check the wiring looms under the seats, the seatbelt pre-tensors, ECU could be faulty, but I had this same thing ongoing for months, Peugeot garage could not even pin point the fault until I joined an online Peugeot forum, turned out it was something so simple like a new battery needed. Problem solved.
Bazile, you are not going to like what I'm about to say, I have just had to replace the full Stark for the same A/Bag light, but it was the Bag light only, the unit is sealed " But can be prized open" but its a printed board, to bye they are in the region of £180>>£200, I was luck I have yet to pay a friend for a replacement he had handy, check out 247 car spares and the usual out lets re/ scrap yard, but make sure you have ALL THE DETAILS off your orig part off your car.

Thanks Guys

TWR - you are talking to someone who do not know a lot about cars .
What and where is the 'stalk' ? - Is it a sealed unit incorporating the air bag light and is it that , you state costs £ 180- £ 200 ?
Hi Bazile
sorry for my late reply, the stark ie the item that is attached to the steering wheel, on your right is the wiper/washer control >> on you left the lights it also controls the air bag light on your dash, I have just had my wife's replaced by a Auto Elec, the unit was replaced with a 2nd hand one & has sorted the light out, If you are going to get it sorted, DO NOT take it to K.F. as you will be charged the earth, Also not to the dealer as they will sting you, go to a family run garage for the job to be done, but I can advise you, the job will only take under an hour to do if you have the replacement & the tolls ( Screwdriver / Torx driver. If you decide to try and do it yourself make sure you have ALL THE NUMBERS showing on the old part with the Nos on the replacement, you will have 5 sets of numbers on the left ( Lights etc) & one No on the top next to the bar code, I would look on ebay or the people I have mentioned, I would not rush out & get the job done until you get a replacement, If I can help further, contact me or many on this site.
I know a (little) bit about cars, but, can someone please tell me what a 'Stark' is, as mentioned at 17:35 Sun & 16:00 Mon.
Thanks.
the indicator / lights within the steering, it is known as stork / stawk, depends how you want to casll it Baldric.
Ah, thank you TWR, I thought I was missing something,
I think I'll probably casll it a Stork in future.
Trouble is with these things Baldric, they are a P.C.Board, you can get into the things in a careful way & I mean careful but to find the fault, you have to be keyed up.
Could a Stork help with that do you think?

Thanks TWR
I'm sorry to sound like a philistine here - ( as i've said i dont know a lot about cars ) when you say the light stalk ' controls' the air bag light - can you please explain what you mean - how does it control it ? ( i assumed the purpose of the light stark was only to turn on/off the driving lights on the vehicle i.e headlamps , side lights , indicators )
That's what I thought Bazile, I tried looking at the connections myself on my wife's car, as said, usually its the connection under the seat, with the seat getting moved often the wires tend to break as they are very flimsy, I could not solve this problem so I took it to our local Auto Elec, within mins the problem was the unit I have mentioned, from what I understand the Air Bag light is incorporated within the light wiring that about all I can tell you, I would get a Auto Elec to check it first, I hope its not that for you, but if it is I would make do with the problem until you come across a 2nd hand replacement, but just to inform you, if your car is due an MOT with this light on, it will fail, for the sake of searching, I will see If I can come across one for you & give you some idea on prices.
At this moment there is one on Ebay, bids at this time Nil, Price £ 12. it seems that this unit on your car splits, the one on my wife's car does not.
