Radio Code

Haha, just kidding....I have brought a new clock for the car and to fit it I have to remove the negative from the battery, i fitted a sony cd player/radio just a few weeks ago, if i remove that before disconnecting the negative terminal from the battery, when i refit the cd player/radio, it will work without having to put a code in will it? i'm thinking yes, but not 100% sure. cheers, dot

yes mick! it's got blue led lights instead of the orangey ones, proper boy racer! didn;t actually realise that i could have just bought the blue bulbs but i've to pull the unit out anyway. off to work for 12 and so won;t be able to respond til about 9pm but i'm hoping to get it fitted tomorrow morning! cheers, dot (not marking you best answer yet to be fair!)

Doesn't make sense. Either the device doesn't have a code (else you would have had to input it when you installed it), or if it does, then removing it will require you to enter the code again.

Rojash makes a valid point - if you didn't use a code before, why would you be worrying about one now? Explanation and outcome would be appreciated!

hi guys, i thought that possibly if i took out the power before removing the player then the player somehow knew asnd would demand a code when i put it back, which is why i thought i should takwe the player out before removing the negative lead. i've not done anything yet as i have been at work, probably won;t do it til sunday, but i think maybe it is only factory fitted players that need a coder anyway.

There's a few things wrong with that assumption.

a) If you remove the device, then it has no power - just as if you had disconnected the battery - the end result is the same

b) If removing the device without first disconnecting the battery did mean that the code did not come into play - exactly how would that work as a theft deterrent?

What kind of car is it,my radio doesnt need a code because it will only play in my car,it is a Nissan.It is fitted with NATS.
