Please can somebody explain this to me in simple terms.....
I want to sell my personalised plate.
I own the registration but it is not on my current car it is on my old car, now owned by my brother.
What is the process I need to follow and what documentation is needed from me and for the vehicle that the reg is currently on (as that vehicle will have to go back to its original plate)
You simply need to transfer your cherished plate and put a retention on it. You will need the original number plate of your old car though first. Get down to the DVLA and they will talk you through it and give you the relevant forms.
I want to sell the plate. I have provisionally accepted an offer for it.
But its the logistics of it being on my brothers car. He will have to register his car in the original plates and the timing will have to be spot on. Im so confused
When you have retained the registration mark (it will arrive on a certificate), you can sell it. At the point of retention your brothers car will get an age related reg back (probably the original).
Tell your brother to go to the local DVLA and have the plate transfered direct to the new owners vehicle...this costs £85 instead of £105.Theres no need for a v778...(retention doc).He must take all his docs and all the docs for the recipients vehicle..........and a cheque.
