Because too many people think that bikers are a menace on the roads.

When cars and bikes have crashes, the car drivers always say the biker was riding too fast, or weaving in and out of the traffic. In reality, it's usually because the car driver was a total arse.

Helmet cams provide evidence that it was the car driver who pulled out in front of the bike and put the biker in hospital.

That makes sense, JJ. I thought that maybe they were commercial riders and this was a company policy.

It could be company policy for that reason, I suppose. To help the company's insurers when they have claims.

some cyclists do as well, not sure why really except that they can record themselves breaking the law at every turn.

you just assumed that i am a car driver, and you have no idea what the problem is like in the capital, you could only know that if you lived here.
Am aware you come to the capital, but don't care for it.
I enjoyed cycling once, i certainly wouldn't do it now, not because of cars, but other inexperienced cyclists.
There is big problem with cyclists who ride over red lights, cycling on pavements, which as we all know is illegal. Since the Barclay's bike scheme was introduced it's a free for all. As long as they obey the law then there isn't a problem, sadly most do not.

To be fair some (a lot) of motor bike drivers are also a mence on the road.

I used to work in the small town of Warwick and travelled home along a fairly winding country lane.

Once a week there was a meet up of motor bike drivers at a certain pub on this country road, about 100 bikes would turn up.

Often they would "show off" driving up and down this country road making as much noise as they could and going as fast as they could.

They would overtake when there was a solid line in the middle of the road, overtake on blind bends and so on. Totally reckelss driving and accidents just waiting to happen.

It is no wonder so many motor bike drivers are killed on the roads, I think many of them have some sort of "death wish".

Bikers are no different to car drivers. Some are good, some are complete anis wipes.

Some riders also tend to keep the back number plate at an angle so that they are impossible to read from behind.

disagree about what, even the local traffic police were surprised at the level of cyclists who break the law. They get a fine or face having to attend a traffic awareness course. How do i know this, because i helped out with one such exercise. The senior policeman in charge said he was amazed at the problem. The capital has seen a ten fold increase in cyclists, fine as i said if they stay within the law, many do not.

I think the problem in smelly London is pedestrians.

I occasionally chuck the mountain bike in the back of the Toyota, park in Marylebone, and cycle to wherever I'm going. When the lights are red, or it's busy, obviously you have to cut across the pavement. The damn pedestrians behave like they're the only ones allowed to use it. I suspect must of them are tourists.

Hey, hang on ... there's a theme here ... London is full of tourists from abroad ... Brighton is full of day trippers from London ... NOBODY is where they belong (except cyclists, who always stay where we belong ... especially in London)

if you think it's ok to ride on pavements, cut across pedestrians then you are as bad as those who live here. From extensive experience those who visit Brighton come from all places, the last time i was there about a month ago would say most are foreigners, going on accents and the number of foreign coaches.

Shame i couldn't post a link to the traffic problem, but of course you wouldn't believe that either. Pavements are for pedestrians, not cyclists.

I strongly believe that cycles should have a bell to warn pedestrians.
As for motorcyclists - there are good and bad. The bad ones are usually the wannabes.

Motorbike riders are quite tame in comparison, as to cars they generally crawl along seeing how we are log jammed with traffic. it's also 20mph in many residential streets, which is no bad thing.

JJ just for this once i agree with you. Sadly many cyclists have been killed in our borough, not what one wants at all. Most caused by collisions with large vehicles like lorries, buses.

We have a big annual road bike race here in May. The roads are scary for car drivers before and after.
Wannabees who want to impress the girls come by train with helmets under their arms. Gotta laugh, but some great bikes and bikers too. Sadly, death(s) almost every year.

Cameras are brilliant for finding the complete muppet drivers around us every day, however, there are some bad bike riders out there as well, cyclists and motorcyclists. I drive and also ride bikes of all kinds, the worst times I've had are out on my road bicycle 21mm tyres, skinny frames drivers don't seem to give a damn about us.
