ive got no live going to the inside electrics on my car
my brother has just fitted a cd player in my peugeot 406.he noticed that there is no live going to the cd player or anywhere else. the interior lights only work while the ignition is on.the clocks stops and restarts everytime you take the key out, the alarm button doesnt light up and the cd player has no memory. we have checked the fuses but he is wondering if it could be one of the relays(i think thats the right word) has anyone any other possibilities please...thanks maria

If it's a replacement unit then there should be a live wire there somewhere. If the old unit had presets then there will be a constant live and the main power to the unit may well be throught the ignition switch. If you can tell me a bit more I will try and help.
hi,thanks for answering..there was no radio cassette/cd player in the car, we used it using the original connectors.when i got the car it said central locking on passenger door sometimes intermittent but when we checked there was no wiring in the door. i replaced that and got the electric windows and speakers working, we dont know if they disconnected something so that they could blame that if i checked it, but all interior electrics will only work with the ignition on.my daughter gave me a leaflet on how to re programme the key but it hasnt worked, my other brother said today that i wouldnt be able to reprogramme it without a live anyway..do you know if that is right...sorry if i dont make much sense...maria
