Surely there must be a point where the plates meet?

that's what I would have thought however, the guy selling said one of the clutches I am getting has no biting point

answer resolved. basically the pedal will be very high before you can take off
I have known clutches to be so light or so heavy that it is difficult to find the biting point but all the manual cars I have driven have had one - do you know the make/model of clutch?
I have known cars with clutches like that - you have to be very aware of resting your foot on the clutch whilst driving as it will obviously disengage really easily.
Don't buy this car unless the seller fits a new clutch plate!

It is a new clutch that I'm talking about, not a car lol.
Yes, it is a panther stage 3 clutch
i had a jeep cherokee that had a biting point that was near to completely released. I got very used to it...bit of a shock when i bought the Rav4 which is much more civilised. I bunnyhopped all the way down the side road when i started driving it!

Haha, I'd say that was fun, how long did it take you to get used to it
Sounds like its more suitable for racing/rallying where you bang the clutch in and out and change it every five minutes than normal everyday traffic congetion type driving - if it is for an everyday motor I'd avoid it if I were you.
only about 300 yards, The garage is on a service road, you go down it about 500 yards onto a roundabout that is part of the dual carriageway. I did it a couple of times on the test drive, the nice bloke from the garage who came with me thought it was hilarious.

Why would you want to fit a stage 3 clutch to any car unless it's been seriously modified so the standard clutch can't handle the power?, On a fairly standard car you'll get no benefit (other than increasing wear on things like the thrust bearing)

Increased clamp load torque improving effiency,
sounds like a paddle high performance clutch, not great for road use.

It is. It a bit more difficult to use but not too for my driving standard
