My car seems to have developed the above problem. It started a couple of weeks ago during the snow we had - then stopped after a couple of days but it's started up again (wet weather?).

A trawl of the internet seems inconclusive - dry ball joint seems the likeliest so far.

Anyone any idea how much I am looking at for a repair? It's a 2008 Clio Campus Sport.

TIA :)

Have you checked you power steering fluid?
Question Author
Nope. Car was serviced in March but guess I should really check it myself - However, the noise does seem to come from down by my feet - I feel it more if I happen to be changing gear while turning if that makes sense.

I will check it tomorrow though :) If it ever actually stops fecking raining!

Sounds to me that it is a CV (constant velocity) joint these usally creak when turning left or right, this will need replacing, perhaps replace both sides
Get someone to spray the Suspension with WD40, Under the car + under the bonnet.

It seems it is a cracked CV joint - just waiting on the garage to phone to tell me how much and how long to repair :(
