intensive driving lessons

im now interested in learning to drive. what are the benefits/disadvantages of taking an intensive driving course. what does it include? thanks in advance for any help it is much appreciated :p

The problem with these intensive courses is if you havn't had any lessons before you take one, and you pass, you can drive on the road without having had enough exposure to traffic.  This is something that only time and practise can increase.  I dont believe you would gain enough experience in dealing with traffic and therfore would be a danger to yourself and other road users.  I wish you all the best whatever you decide to do.

Many people are lured into the idea of an intensive course believing that start monday pass friday etc. the truth is that most will probaly need a lot more than this, normally your theory will have to be already passed and as already stated to learn to drive properly you need to have any hours on the road. The DSA statistics state that most people at 17 will probaly need at least 45 hours of profesional tuition and private practice to pass the test. Now work this out over a week, thats 10 hours a day nearly with the test, far too much for most too handle.

Most towns also have waiting lists so if you started learning on a 2 hour lesson a week then took your theory say after about 6 weeks study thats 12 hours done, then if you wanted increase to say 2 x 2hrs a week in 6 weeks you will be well on your way to passing and that will account for most towns waiting list for tests.

and you will have good road time and experience.
