a/ Yes
b/ Alfa Sud. That flat four engine was a delight. Shame about the speed of oxidisation of the body.
c/ Yes. Still a pretty car.

yes mine had rust issues!
a)No.
Please remeber that, although he's from Yorkshire, Mr Clarkson isn't God.
Although Mr. Clarkson and I are from the same county I see him as an opinionated gobsh*te who talks fluent ***.
He also makes me laugh at times.
Second set of *** rhymes with botox.
Me too Graham. He's carved out a very nice career (in the same way Al Murray has with his Pub Landlord character) by skewing logic for his own ends. I believe it was JC (spooky coincidence?) who made the 'You cant be a petrol head unless you've owned and Alfs' rule. Although it could have been Hamster.
All the soul, passion and Italian style is a great comfort when you're sitting at the roadside (again) awaiting the fourth emergency service.
Scrap in a nice coat in my experience.
I often go to classic car shows and it's amazing how rarely you see alfasuds

This is quite shocking

I mean may cars of that time were suceptable to rust - but this is an exceptionally poor survival rate!

Alfa's are one of those cars that you own once! I had a Sud, mechanically it was pretty good but basically it just rusted out! I sold it in the end to some bloke who wanted the engine for his kit car, the engine was excellent. I don't think I'd have an Alfa again as I couldn't put up with it's "character" but I'm glad I did my PH apprentiship and owned one once.
My son has an Alfa 146. Nice enough car, and handles well. But the fuel consumption.........................
[a] yes
[b] 1968 Giulia, 1979 Sud, 1987 33
[c] no, diesel Alfa's don't count. Real petrolheads cars have carburettors with at least 4 chokes. One of the reasons all of the above cars sounded so good, okay the Sud had a single twin-choke but still sounded wonderful.
