Only One Speaker

Hi,
have just purchased a vw sharan.05 model. radio/cassette has only two speakers, one left and one right. left hand speaker no sound at all. have tried the radio balance left and right knob, but even full volume left makes no sound at all.
any ideas.

I have exactly the same problem in my car. I've assumed it's a loose or broken connection in the wire somewhere between the radio and the speaker in the door. So far it's been too fiddly a job for anyone to mend it for me - mind you we did check first that it wasn't the actual speaker that was faulty.
Try tapping the speaker on the door Annie, other than that, take the car back to where you bought it & ask them to sort it, It's not a big job to remove the Door Card, but if Mr Annie decides to do that make sure you have the Plastic Clips that hold the door card in place as they normally snap when removing the card.

I have spoken to the garage and they say that they have had several of the people carriers with the same problem, and it appears that the speaker connection corrodes because of damp going down when you open the window when its wet, and they said they will fix it.
