Driver Awareness Course

I have been offered a driver awareness course instead of points on my licence. Do I have to tell my insurance company ?

I really do not know but my brother did not declare points on his license. A very costly mistake!

I didn't. You don't get any points so in theory you've committed no offense they need to be informed about.

No you don't have to - I rang my insurers when it happened to me & was told no, it doesn't count. /well worth doing the course.

This question came up recently and the answer is there are
some companies that request you inform them.

if it is discovered by whatever means that you did a sac the insures can invalidate your insurance

The answer obviously 'don't go with Admiral...other insurance companies don't need notifying...YET

Thankyou everybody for your help! I think I'll come clean and phone my insurers to be on the safe side. They'll probably jack up the premiums anyway!

Be aware that there is a large number of insurance companies under the Admiral umbrella. ie Elephant, Bell etc
