My son has a 156 Petrol on a 51 plate which he bought approx 2 years ago, no problems what so ever, nice and comfortable, quiet engine, all mod cons, the only problem that I can see is the cost of repairs especially cam belt change 700-800 at a Alfa dealers. ouch
Yeah the 156 is that rare thing, an Alfa you can buy with your head as well as your heart. Nice to drive and to look at, generally well built (apart from the very early ones) and well equipped, the rather dreary cabins are the only major down side. The 2.4 JTD engine is a peach, its best feature being its meaty torque curve (224 lb/ft), coupled with an impressive mpg figure of about 40.
