Any idea why my 2004 diesel citroen picasso should blow out thick black smoke for 10 mins or so each time i start it and when in low gears or when acclerating.

blocked air filter (cheapest option if it is the problem), EGR valve,worn injectors,faulty turbo....could be anything.
There is a Derv Injector product that will help to a point to clean the injector tips, the four outlets on the injector tip get cloged up, Put a bottle of this fluid into a full tank of derv & try £5.00 ( Cost) What is the milage? has the car been serviced & when?

Thanks for responses. Mileage is 105000 and the last service was about 5 months ago but i have only just bought it.

Seems to have got worse over last week or so

No only the shell premium since I bought it but not sure about previous owner
Try what I have stated the Injector cleaner, other than that, a re/con set of Injectors. You may be able to get these localy, try your local yellow.
