Looks like it's 6 months in a 12 month period. https://www.gov.uk/importing-vehicles-into-the-uk/temporary-imports Seems a bit severe so I'm assuming there were aggravating factors - they'd probably previously issued a warning or some such

This is a Tweet From the NW Motorway Police
GMP NWMPG patrol has stopped a Hungarian vehicle that has been in the UK since August 2012. Vehicle has no tax, so vehicle seized

Thanks Jake for clearing that up for me
It is 6 months - we are watching the vehicle across the road from us..... time's nearly up before they have to register it in the UK.
Why are watching it, boxtops?
They need to pass a UK Driving test HC. otherwise they are classed as a learner.
If they're from Europe they don't need to pass a driving test.
Assuming they have a full driving licence from an EU country, that is.
