Can anyone tell me how difficult it is to change the volkswagen passat 1.8 s rear brake pads and roughly how much they might cost. I have a little knowledge but dont have the manual as the car belongs to my son.

Thank you in anticipation

once the wheel is removed you will need to undo the two nuts to release the pads (i think these are 13mm bolts )lever out the pads with a screw driver as they will probably be stiff .next you will need to wind the calipers back using a caliper wind back tool with the top of the brake fluid reservoir removed whilst doing this. replace pads the same way the old ones came out and refit in reverse order .pads should cost approx 20 quid from halfords, motorworld etc if you get it done at a garage expect to pay 60quid all in as i suspect you wont have a caliper wind back tool.
