Bought Near New Car Yesterday But Brakes Pads Are Rubbing

bought car yesterday, only 1 year old, dealer gave me 1 year manufacture warranty. heard brakes rubbing, hopefully im wrong, if it is brakes will dealer have to fix them, also stearing seems to steer to right a little, hope it wasnt hit underneath. paid cash for it but as i say i have 1 year warranty

Both the faults you mention are wear and tear and will not be covered by manufacturers warranty. The dealer may do it anyway. You can always try!

Am I missing something here? If the dealer gave you a 1 year warranty then he Will fix them. Insist.

Most manufactures give a 3 year transferable warranty on a new car,
If your car is only a year old, why have you only got a one year warranty?

Have you checked the tyre pressures? An under-inflated front tyre can cause that problem.

Also take a careful look at the front tyre to see if the wear is even or if it's predominantly on one side of the tyres. (That could suggest tracking problems).

If the car steers to one side under braking then it might be duff shock absorber (or simply poorly set up brakes).. If it steers to one side when accelerating it could be a broken wishbone.

If the dealer has workshop facilities, take the car back and get him to look at it. Otherwise get it checked out by a local mechanic that you trust.

If the dealer has any sort of reputation he will fix whatever is wrong with or without any warranty. Unless you have a slow puncture (check the tyre pressures) causing the problem, you should not expect to suffer from such faults so soon after purchase. Presumably he didn't warn you that anything might need attention when you bought the car?

To repeat Baldric's question above...why hasn't the car got two (or more, depending on manufacturer) years of it's original factory warranty remaining? Seems strange.

could be its been standing for a while on a forecourt and the discs are rusty, also its possible to hear the brake pads on many modern cars as they have reduced the amount of sound deadening to save weight.I have a Pug 207, just changed all the brakes and can still hear them rubbing under braking.
