I once tried to get info on a particular car but came up against the "Data Protection Barrier". By all means try but don't expect to get anywhere, the system is anything but sympathetic to even genuinely innocent enquiries.

You can find out if a car is insured or SORN on the 'Ask Mid' site but there is no site to find out where a car is even the police can't do that. The DVLA provide the names and addresses of car owners/ keepers to the police and to businesses such as private parking companies so that they can issue parking charge invoices but you have to be a registered company and pay the fees.
