i have leased a car for the last 12 years. It worked out ok for me because it meant i had a new car every 3 years and therefore maintenance was at a minimum, and it was always relaible
However, i have never "owned" the car, and worked out over the three years the monthly payments were, i suppose, quite high compared to finance or a loan to buy a car (for example my husband got a loan for a car at about the same time and at the end of 6 years he's probably paid less in payments than me but now actually has a paid for car; albeit a six year old one) It just suited me better because i had a higher spec car than i would have been able to afford if i'd been buying it outright.
my last one was a mercedees and i feel it was rather missold to me (well mis-leased i suppose!) as the salesman told me i could have it serviced in other places that weren't the dealership, but mercedees have this think where they do electronic tracking of services, rather than logbook/service book, and only they have access to it! So despite the fact i had it serviced when required, it's not recorded on their system. i think i'll have a big problem at the end of the lease with this!
