M25

How did this person get up to this speed, I have never driven on the M25 but have been lead to believe that it is one big circular traffic jam !.

Hi Tony, with tec within cars that are manufactured today, there must be a way to design a sensor on roads to reduce the speed of traffic to the local speed limit, It must be a possible?

Doesn't say what time of day it was,
I often use the M25 late night/early hours of morning, never that busy then!

Maybe it was in the middle of the night when they had the road to themselves. I hate the M25 - it`s so unpredictable and the bit around Dartford is just wall to wall lorries. There are some clear stretches though so it is possible.

TWR - it might also be useful to use some tech to speed some of the dodderers up to somewhere near the speed limit.

I've had some frightening experiences on the A14 with old gits joining a 56mph stream of trucks when they'd only reached about 25mph on the slip road - which pushes the trucks straight out (and no they don't look first) in front of cars and more relevantly my bike in lane 2.

I usually do M2 or M20, Dartford Crossing then M11 or A1M, lots of opportunity but too many Cameras for my liking.

It is possible in the middle of the night on the M25. I was going quite fast middle of the night - M25. Saw another car coming up behind headlights blazing and gaining on me. Then I saw blue lights come on.
I could hear my heart beating. We were approaching a junction, and ....... they turned off!

I love coming out of London at night on the 20, from where you join it you've got 70+ miles without a junction, just On/Off slip roads 'til you reach outskirts of Dover.

Sunny, I used the 14 very often, it's one of many that these cases often happen, the problems that can be cause by motorist's is the movement within the trailer / tautliner, loads can often move within the trailer in a forward / sideway direction even with the load being strapped, been there & seen the video, I'm sure we have all been in a situation that can cause this, I was trained & with experience to read the road & a lot of motorist's do not do this, the result, causing the motorist to get trapped by the traffic joining in from their left.

Don't know if it still happens, but some years ago there used to be unofficial late night 'time trials' for a complete circuit of M25. Traffic police turned a blind-eye as some of their number were participants. This was in the days before 100% cctv coverage.

It's a bit of a myth to say the M25 is chocca all the time. There are sections that are jammed up but there are also long sections where it is quite empty. Then of course over night a lot of unnofficial speed testing is done! There is apparently an underground speed challenge record for a lap of the M25.
